A Satirical Look At A Political Forum

SHARE ON :

It is Harold Lasswell, a supporting scientist, who defined politics as who gets what, when, how; that seems to capture the essence of modern competitive policy. It seems that is the reason why politics seem to interest a great number of people. An internet search for policy and a political forum yields results that can only be rivaled by a similar search for pornography.

For those who are religiously inclined, applying Harold Lasswell's definition to the biblical creation story means it can be considered. It would be where God the Trinity decided to allocate power and authority to human beings, rather than to animals or plants. The results would have been radically different had He given power and authority to horses, for example.

Democracy has been especially conducive to the formation of following interest groups, and by extension, every type of it for these groups to meet and discuss. This makes it easier for many groups to have a voice and push their interests. It does have its downsides, however; people of a particular supporting persuasion can meet to strategize on how to oppress others. This is a situation common in countries where negative ethnicity is rife. Such meetings are used to mobilize members of one ethnic or racial community against others. The problem is not the concept, but an abuse of it. On the upside, such debate can be convened to fight for the rights of those who are oppressed.

While it serves to expand democratic space, provide support to members, and air out issues that would have otherwise remained unknown, they can also be dangerous. In countries where negative ethnicity is prevalent, they can be avenues to mobilize one ethnic or racial group against another. This was the case in Germany under Hitler, where he sought to rally Germans against Jews. It was also the case in the Republic of South Africa, where the white minority used such meeting to rally against the black majority.

In a world where image matters, it is not limited to hard bargaining, horse trading and strategizing. They are also about glitz and glamour. There is no doubt that Barrack Obama would never have clinched the nomination of his party if he had a head full of dreadlocks. This means all dread locked men and women around the world should form it as a vehicle, and hold several meetings to strategize on how to get one of their own into the top supporting office of any country in the world.

Politics, following groupings, lobby groups and by extension, every type of political forum seems set to stay as part of human society. As one supporting scientist put it, policy is about who gets what, when. Supporting meeting thus seem set to be an integral part of this process.
