What is meant with a complex project? The world if full difference once we talk about intricate projects. Is complexity the same as complicated? By complex carry out we just mean a big project, one which is geographical distributed or even using complex technology? Or are these kinds of mega project just harder.

A jumbo jet is complicated; mayonnaise is intricate.

The higher the numbers of ambiguity about the particular project goal and uncertainty in regards to the delivery method allow it to be more difficult to manage in a standard way. This seems more important compared to the pure size with the project. Some large difficult projects have clear goals and identified methods and these could be managed really traditional way.
